I picked up my pre-ordered Lionel PRR X31a boxcar last week, plus the Lionel PRR X31a double door boxcar I bought off this forum also came.  Both look great and pretty much match the pictures of the actual cars on the web.

The only problem I have is with the boxcar.  The X31a was built from 1934 to 1936.  The double door boxcar has a build date of 6-36, while the boxcar has a build date of 6-56.

Like I said, they almost got it right.

Hot Water,

I'm a HighRailer, not a scale guy. I rarely if ever read the 2-rail or 3-rail scale forums. As far as I can tell from those forums, nothing is ever good enough. As I said, I think these cars are great and are definitely good enough. I just found it curious that Lionel would miss that detail. A quick read of the 2-rail thread indicates there might be some of these good looking cars coming up for sale on the forum soon.

I guess I can see your point, especially since these cars are so reasonably priced; MSRP $69.99!
