I've done that and nothing happens
Whenever I push a button a green and yellow bar appears on the base 3.
Have you loaded the engine into the Base 3?
Yes I was running it yesterday today it doesn't work I'm about ready to smash this thing
I’ve been experiencing similar craziness. Try shutting everything down and turning on again. Also try removing engine and reloading it.
Hobbies, including and especially ours, are all about patience. investing in it is where the big returns come.
I can tell from this thread that many, many, many of us have none.
Base 3 is very complex. Working out the bugs and foibles will take some time. If you have no patience find another hobby, but I think you'll soon realize that it will also require similar patience too.

Hmm,
Green indicates wi-fi activity between your mobile device and the Base 3 which I would expect.
However, Yellow indicates Cab-2 or Cab1-L remote activity to the base.
Did you have any command system before? If so, make sure any other Lionel command bases other than the Base 3 are not powered if you have any other on your layout.
Although I had a couple of crazy instances where the base looked like it was receiving all kinds of commands and the engine started going crazy.
I've never had command before and I don't own any command controllers. That's why this is so frustrating without a instruction booklet. I don't know what more to do.

I’m sure we can figure it out.
Are you using Access point or Network to connect to the Base 3 (just check the switch on the front).
Can you show us your engine Configuration screen for that engine in the app?

Reposting here since other thread was closed. Below is an initial list that I compiled after spending some time with the new system over the weekend. I will be forwarding TalkToUS@lionel.com as Lionel suggests. If people post here what they are sending to Lionel, this should eliminate sending duplicate emails regarding bugs/suggestions and it would let others in the forum see what issues are out there in case they are experiencing the same thing.
- Would be nice if the connection to Base3 would remain when swiping out of the app and using a different app as it does on the Bluetooth side of the app. Also loses connection when phone goes to sleep.
- When operating LC+ 2.0 locomotives, the direction arrow remains a constant blue, so you do not know if you are going to go forward or reverse.
- When operating LC+ 2.0 locomotives, pressing the blow down steam button causes the locomotive to quickly increase speed
- When in the Train Configuration screen, clicking “Remove” causes the app to crash. Only way to remove a train appears to be pressing “Clear”
- When operating Legacy locomotives, when pressing and holding Aux 2 for the lighting menu, none of the lights can be turned off or on and marker lights cannot be changed color wise. No functionality here.
- Lots of issues running Trains. Seems to interfere with other locomotive/train operation causing numerous trains and locomotives to move at once when trying to control just one train. Only solution I have found is deleting and readding trains and locomotives, but the same issue keeps occurring.
- Some issues getting locomotives to respond correctly such as a Legacy F7 AA set . . . train acts funny sometimes with motors running fast, but no train movement. Eventually results in a blinking cab light. Also issues running the new LC + 2.0 RDC set. Able to add locomotive, but after using other engines, and coming back to the RDC, the RDC doesn’t respond to commands. Only solution is to delete and readd the locomotive.
- Using station sounds diners, can’t seem to get dialogue to show on second swipe screen that refers to the dining car being open/closed, etc. Only can view the Announcement/Departure commands.
- Going between LC+ 2.0 locomotives and Legacy locomotives, the speed step counter gets confused and sometimes only shows the far right digit only
- When operating a train, issues getting the tail locomotive’s lights to come on in reverse
- Engine roster scrolling is a challenge, sometimes you can’t scroll all the way to the bottom or back to the top. You swipe down and the roster snaps back to the top
- When operating LC+2.0 locomotives, you cannot activate the Standby, Good to Go, etc. commands that are on the swipe screen. The buttons do not work.
- The warning bell is tricky to work, sometimes difficult to turn off and on
- Would be nice if the CAB3 can warn you if you are using a duplicate TMCC ID #
BAM Railroad, during yesterdays test run at the LSHR's we used several phones, and Cab2's, and Cab1l's, also used my daughters IPAD. Everything seemed to work OK. Although we did not do any Lion chief engines, or lashups, will try that today. When I got home I tried an old Digiland tablet of my. It was slow and had all kinds of problems, especially with the engine roster, keeping it in any kind of order. The reason I bring up the digiland is some hardware do to age or manufacturer don't play well with certain apps., this is where Lionel is going to have a tough time. I would suggest trying a friends or family members device, maybe a newer IPAD since Apple keeps tight control on manufacturing and design and see how that works out.. Even though I am not an Apple fan my daughters 3 year old IPAD performed flawlessly. Just a thought.

Thanks for the feedback. I am using a brand new Iphone 15 pro, so can't get any newer than that!
No, Bam you cannot get newer, but still try another device. It might help or not. It can't hurt to try. Might even answer some questions.
Why is the Lionel logo staying lit. Some times it flashes 3 times as it is supposed to other times it stays lit
@Terry Luft posted:Why is the Lionel logo staying lit. Some times it flashes 3 times as it is supposed to other times it stays lit
Unless it's different than described below, it's normal operation. Anytime a smart device is connect the L will be lit.
From the Power and Control site...
Wi-Fi Indication Lights
The Base3 has 2 lights related to the Wi-Fi system.
The orange “L” logo light indicates the Wi-Fi connection status. The “L” will be off when no clients have connected to the Wi-Fi. When one or more clients have connected to the Wi-Fi, then the LED will turn solid ON.
The second is the green light bar. This flickers when there is Wi-Fi activity.
Im going transition from the Cab2/base to Cab3. My cab2 base still has the original software version as it was purchased in 2008. I also have a new 990 set that has not been used and also has the original software. Do I need to upgrade that software prior to transitiong to the Cab2 and base?
Thanks
You'll need to load the new CAB2 software to use it with the BASE3. The Legacy command base has no place in an environment with the BASE3 in use. If the Legacy base has software 1.0, Lionel is the only place that can do an update.
I've been using the CAB2... no real issues other than the usual annoying items already commented on. I just tried CAB3 from my phone for the first time and that will not happen again!. Its time for a tablet... grrr. I still have to dig out the CAB1L and give that a go.
Update: CAB1L took all of 15 seconds to setup... and then run the four trains I'm testing with. Next a flap to cover the indicator lights on the front of B3... they're a little to bright and flashy for me.
Anyone know the process for doing a factory reset on a locomotive using the Cab3?
Has anyone had the chance to hook up their LCS system to the base three yet? What do I do with the Wi-Fi module? Get rid of it? Do I unchain the other modules and plug them in separately? Do I disconnect the power transformer that is currently wired into the switch/accessory modules? The directions where not real clear.

WiFi module is now unnecessary. The power cable connection is now unnecessary. Plug your LCS modules into the sockets on the Base 3. You can daisy chain up to 10 modules per socket.

EDIT: I was informed Base3 will work with the LCS app so I will check it out tonight.
For now if you want to use the iPad LCS App you still need the LCS WiFi module. I still have mine in the chain just for this purpose. Be aware, that the Cab3 App will attach to the LCS module if set to auto detect. You won't have a database and things are wonky. I have set the IP address on the Base3 and use the manual entry on the App's WiFi connection Settings to connect to Base3.
The iPad uses the LCS module to connect for the LCS App and the Cab3 App uses the Base3 all via the home network. Anything I do on either App as far as switches, Accessories, Blocks, etc is reflected on the LCS App.

I manually programmed 5 locomotives yesterday, all went well. On the plus side to being a newcomer to the hobby (fall-winter 21-22), I haven’t many engines to program. Even with a couple minor app quirks, this is a whole new world for me coming from someone who ran Legacy engines with the LC app one at a time. The only two things not working has been the brake slider and pressing the crew talk and tower com icons when orange by the aux 1 tab. Engulfed in the glory of watching 5 engines running at the same time, I had to take a video.😊

Will there be a software update to the Base 3 so it is possible to run the LCS app without a separate wifi module? The documentation currently says:
The LCS App requires a Wi-Fi connection to connect to your layout. This is achieved either using the LCS Wi-Fi module or the Base3.

While I haven't tried it and I have had the LCS WiFi module doing the work, I was informed that Base3 will currently work with the LCS App. I will remove my LCS WiFi tonight and check it out.

I would certainly hope so, that was one of the key features advertised for the BASE3! Why put three LCS connectors on it if it can't support LCS!

The LCS App. Sorry I should have been clearer.

I received a message from Lionel this morning confirming the Brake Slider and EFX button are identified as bugs and will be fixed in a future update.
Keep submitting bugs to: TalktoUs@lionel.com
so we can get these issues fixed. Just posting them here won' get them fixed.

Oh, that makes more sense. Didn't I hear that they were going to do some updates to the LCS app?

If you watched the virtual Legacy Meeting you did but Cab3 App is a priority as you can imagine.

Thanks Sean, should I let them know about the tower com, crew talk aux 1 issue like you mentioned in your video or did you already?

I thought I had heard that somewhere. Yes, I suspect the CAB3 is top of the list. I can see getting the BASE3/CAB3 into the hands of a couple thousand eager customers turned up some bugs.
I'm still having issues, i lost all of my engines in my roster, when i go to the roster part of the app i get stuck and i have to get out of the app completely. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app numerous times, i have sent crash reports to lionel and not heard back. I can run the engines with the bluetooth app and the universal remote just fine. the few times i have been able to run the engines with the cab 3 app the engines suddenly stop and if i push one of the buttons on the app i can see the green bar light up on the base. if someone can help me you can contact me through my email in my profile.
We can't all be Luddites. Hats off to the early adopters for moving the hobby forward!

Sounds like what I was getting when the Cab3 app was connecting to my LCS WiFi module. Dave will get you going.
BTW the LCS WiFi module is being pulled tonight as Dave said it's no longer needed to use the LCS App.
