I recently purchased a Lionel NYC S-1 #18531. Love it! Unfortunately on the home layout my max curve is O36 and the car behind it typically derails. I posted this in another thread and it was suggested I get a car with articulated couplers to go right behind it. A PS-1 boxcar was suggested.

Like many of us, a majority of my purchases are online where you can't see, feel or touch and many online sellers take crap pics at best!! Is there a specific car that "always" has articulated couplers??

Sure, I could go to my LHS and open a bunch of boxes, but I don't think the owner would be real happy. Thanks!!

Jeff - I had the same problem at one time and so coincidentally I put one of my heaviest Lionel cars (it has a lot of heft) right behind the tender and the problem was resolved.

FYI (in case you want to call it up on Lionel's website) the car in question is articulated , operates on 031 curves, and is described as 'PRR 16-Wheel Depressed Center Flatcar with Transformer' (6-21644).

Good Luck in resolving the problem!
