Lionel CC PRR Sharks color question?

No, they don’t match.  I have the CC IIs and they are more green. All of the Legacy versions have been almost black, if not actually black.

Legacy Versions are DGLE.  Dark green, but clearly green:

The CC II are almost a US Army shade of green

I would hasten to add that in real life the colors would hardly be a perfect match, once wind and weather worked on them for a spell, color shades would be all over the map.

I have the CC PRR Sharks, and they are a bit "greener" than most of my other PRR Brunswick Green locomotives.  I believe true Brunswick Green is very close to black, and the CC PRR Sharks are probably a bit too green.  However, they're good looking engines, so I'll keep them.

Ditto.  I just got the Legacy PRR single stripe units, but I’ll definitely be hanging on to the CC IIs.  The paint on those is pretty sharp.

     GRJ is correct in real life paint fades differently even if all the units were painted at the same time from the same can of paint. Depends on how they were exposed to the elements. You can also buy the latest super base single striped B unit which was just introduced. The PRR would not care if all the units didn’t match. I too have a CC PRR Sharks and think a super base B unit with the two powered sound equipped A units in the CC set would sound great.

I remember (very) recently seeing a new in box CCII shark B unit,  on the big E for a fraction of what they normally go for… It was cheap enough that I was toying with the idea of purchasing it to make my CCII set an ABBA.

I saw one there too when I looked after this topic was posted because I’ve never typically thought of the Shark B-unit as expensive.  I did see one, but it was dropped and a bunch of parts need glued back on.  Not the end of the world, but just read carefully is all.

Thanks a lot GUYZ.  I think I will go with the Legacy super bass 2021 version. Yes JOHN B.  I think that would really sound great.  Since I usually run trains at night I don’t think the color will really mater much.  But yes with YORK on the horizon I will be looking for the original.

OMG, where did you get that beautiful catenary? Scratchbuilt? And if so, what did you use for wire?

It is gorgeous.  John and his buddies should do a coffee table book.

When I do a DGLE, I mix a bit of green into the Scale Coat.  Just enough so it doesn't look black, but not nearly as green as Floquil Brunswick, which really is green.

Not in the same class (cast aluminum) but you get the idea - I like a hint of green.  Trucks are black.
