Are there any issues with the Lionel Command Gantry Crane (6-82022) that one needs to be aware of? I have a chance to pick one up for a good price and want to know about any issues. Thanks

I have one on my layout and it performs great. My grandson loves to operate it. I’ve had no problems with it.

The remake of the PW 282 has two motors which utilize rubber-band reduction-drive transmissions. The rubber-band (actually an O-ring) can age-out and fail. People here have discussed the fix, either using the Lionel part or some standard O-ring available at hardware stores. Hopefully someone who has done it will chime in.
At a good price I wouldn't hesitate but I am a bit of a mechanic so not turned off by the prospect of possible future wrenching.
