Hi,

I have a conventional RSD-4 engine that had its electronic e unit stop working.  I ended up ordering an e unit with part number 610 8719 103 that looked the same as the original which is 600 0103 001, but is no longer available from Lionel.  In the description of the first part number is the word "slow."  I received the part and installed it and indeed the engine runs very slowly.  Does anyone know what makes the 610 8719 103 PCB run the engine slowly and is there a way to easily convert it to run at normal speeds?  I also saw someplace that the PCB may be for a Thomas engine.

Thanks,

Lonnie

It may be as silly as a different component, but without analyzing what you have, that's hard to say.  However, I can provide you with some interesting material if you are looking to see what's different.  How about a complete schematic and circuit description of the reverse board?  A member here did a reverse engineering exercise using that board, and created a very detailed document, see attached.

Thank you John for posting this.

While specific for the Lionel Board, is this pretty similar to the QSI DCRU boards used in the Weaver Locos and K-Line ERU's?
