Lionel engine exploded view?? Boiler thread sizes? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have been looking for a Lionel parts call out sheet accompanying an exploded view of a 6-11299 USRA 2-6-6-2 (2012). The best I can come up with is a #71-1323-250 43 page introductory use instruction booklet.

My need is to find the thread sizes of the various screws attaching the boiler and other components.

Specifically, I need two of the four screw sizes holding the boiler to the chassis. Working the boxes at a local hardware store it seems the threads may be a 3.5mm but no idea of the mm pitch??

Anyone know the exact thread size?

All of the 3.5 mm screws listed at the Lionel site have .6 mm thread pitch.

Here is the parts view for your locomotive. There are multiple pages of part numbers; this one lists the screws.

Pete, Thank you, the 3mm fell through and the 4's could not start so 3.5 is confirmed. Non of the local stores have .5 sizes.

Ebay is probably your best bet. Lionel prices are not bad but if you only need a few items shipping will kill the deal. 3.5 x .6 is the common size so if you only see 3.5 its more than likely .6 pitch.

Tom, I have tons of metric screws. Since I'll see you soon, just bring one of the remaining screws and I'll fix you up.

Thanks John, I see McMaster-Carr has them in bags of 100 for about 8 cents each. Maybe I will fill up a wheelbarrow of tools and junk for the visit.

Yep, you can always get a ton of them, it's one or two that's a problem.
