When Lionel remade their tooling for the F3 in the mid-50's, they created a small rectangular area right next to the battery door. It appears as three raised lines. It appears it may have originally been intended as a location to place the battery sticker. During production however, most stickers got slapped into the battery door instead.
Was the purpose of this area? Was it for a battery sticker?
And if so, why has it remained as part of the chassis tooling to this day, even though it's been redone by the Chinese?
