Lionel F3 cab interior

They should fit the old and the newer like you mentioned, as they are the same molds. I glued mine in place.  Do you have the other fittings for the interior, such as the radio, and the crew??

Yep.  Four interiors with two sets of crew for the lead locos and the "radios" which I called control stand but Lionel calls radio.

Glue.  Hmmm sounds like a plan.

I would think the interior would not work in the 2343 because the horizontal motors would hit it?

Southwest Chief:  I'm with oldrob on this, as far as the ability of the horizontal motors in the early F-3 to rotate on curves without hitting the interior.  The early F-3 motors pivoted more outboard (like an FM motor truck) from the fuel tank than its later cousin, the vertical motor (which pivoted closer to the fuel tanks). Lionel did this change because the old version restricted the diesel to  "O" gauge track or larger (o72); while, the vertical design allowed for the F-3 to run on o27 track curves, cost factors not withstanding.

          If you install the interior into later (vertical motor) diesels, I would use clear silicone adhesive along the vertical edges of the interior, next to the body shell. This way, if ever there was a need to remove it, it could be done rather easily. Dennis M.

I'm probably not going to put one of the interior in the classic 2343 as I'm hoping to one day find a Lionel 18128 and 18136 AB lashup to run.  I think the 18128 already has an interior installed.  The 18130 (AB combo) would also work, but I can't find any with the corrected B unit...correct facing "Indian Head" emblem.

I stand corrected, the interiors should fit all the vertical motor F3's.  I should of read the original question more closely...
