Recently acquired a lionel flat car with a piggy back trailer chassis and cargo box. FWIW this is an older small size lionel as opposed to scale. Anyway the cargo box is secured to the chassis front and back. Thats good. However the chassis only secures to the flat car in the front. I can see a rectangular slot in the rear of the flat car that might be intended to secure the chassis but there is no corresponding "peg" on the chassis to put in the spot.
Any ideas? Thanks

The trailer's kingpin (hitch) mounts to the fifth wheel which is secured to the deck of the flatcar just like the prototype
Did your flatcar come with the black piece as seen in these photos below. That is what helps "secure" the rear wheels of the trailer to the flatcar.
Yes the king pin does secure the trailer to the flat car in front and I do have the two black pieces but... nothing secures the the back of the trailer relative to roll (tipping over). Is that OK? Never had a piggy back car before. Seems like kind of a flimsy set up.
