Jeff-

That's a weird one... does this behavior happen in both TMCC and conventional modes?

There are a few basic things to try. Test to see if things improve after each step.

1) Reprogram the TMCC electronics. The reset code for those locos is a 6.

2) Remove and re-seat the three modular boards attached to the motherboard -- R2LC, RailSounds power supply and RailSounds audio board.

3) Remove and re-seat the two chips on the opposite sides of the RailSounds audio board. I recommend you purchase a PLCC chip extractor ($5 or so on eBay) to do this.

Let us know if you have any luck with the above.

Denny and Todd,

not sure what actually fixed the problem   but it works now.

I powered up to confirm I still had the issue and then cut the power.

I took off the shell and made sure there were no places where wires might be pinched, checked all wires for connection, and reseated the boards.

I then applied power and now the railsounds works in both directions.

so, it was at least one of your recommendations that did the trick.

thank you for taking the time to read and post suggestions.

Jeff
