I've noticed that quite a few Lionel helicopters have been offered for sale on Ebay lately.
Folks should be aware that the fellow that owns the molds for making reproduction helicopters is in the process of having a run made. Six variations of the helicopter will be available, with a list price between 20 and 25 dollars.
So don't overpay for a reproduction.
(I am not the individual making them)

I beleive there will be Navy, USMC, unmarked, unmarked yellow, single long blade unmarked (non-operating), and double blade Navy.

In previous runs, the unmarked yellow was made with a seperate tail piece, so I assume it will be made this way again.

From what I have read, on the original postwar yellow helicopter only, the body and tail were all one piece.

While we are on this subject, folks should also be aware that not all of the previous reproduction helicopters were marked as such. Some had an "R" heat stamped on the bottom, others did not.

Original tail pieces were marked "Lionel" (or "built by Lionel", I forget exactly how they are marked).
The reproduction tail pieces carry no markings.

I believe the same fellow also owns the molds for the reproduction 6413 Mercury capsules. I hope he runs these too.

The space capsule in the plastics lab is very different from the one that came on the car.  It would not fit.

I actually used my Plastics lab

I guess it isn't too likely that we will see the Mercury Capsules. They only fit one car that wasn't offered for all that many years.

Emply helicopter cars, both operating and non-operating are plentifull.

Last I knew, Lionel doesn't even have replacement helicopters on their parts lists for the recently made cars.

Folks could use the reproductions with their modern era cars.
