Its great that NYC has this nice display that shows a hobby that is interesting, rewarding and creative. I've always maintained that a model train display open to the public around Christmas season will draw thousands to come and see it. The pity is that most of the small children that are so fascinated and amused by the model train display will never own an O gauge train set. In years past electric model trains were the "high tech" items to own. Today we give the kids an iPhone and a laptop and let them push buttons all day!!! Is it any wonder why manual dexterity is a trait that is fast disappearing?

Gentlemen,

Great event no doubt about it and I would not sell it short on spurring a boys interest in O Gauge trains, this is exactly how Lionel use to get us little boys in the 40' & 50's hooked on O gauge trains.   Here in the Pittsburgh, Pa area, our train exhibits spurr O gauge under the Christmas tree, model railroading is a big part of the Pa family Christmas tradition, especially with the Steeler Super Bowl Trains, pulling bunches of rolling stock.  Lots also in NY with their baseball teams.  Glad to see NYC still having the event!
