Jerry I belong to one of the 2 - 0 scale modular railroad clubs in the Detroit area - the Ford Model Railroad Club.  A large number of members have not worked for Ford and the club is open to all.  We set up for shows 7-8 times a year.  We are set up until July 27 now and can run most weekdays and this Sat.  Our members have a great deal on knowledge that they are willing to share.  Email me with your phone number if you are interested in looking at our set up and talking to our members.  I live in Livonia and we meet in Dearborn.  Thanks Bruce

The club approach is the best, but you could also use the forum's member search function to see where current members live.

Under "Menu," just:

*Click on "Members,"

*Click on "Advanced Members Search,"

*Click on "Search by Geographical Data,"

*Select "United States" in the pulldown menu,

*Put in your ZIP code,

*Select the number of miles you want to search from your location (it defaults as "Exact," but it's a pulldown menu that includes miles),

*Under "Show Results As," select either list or map,

*Click on the list or map icons to see which members include contact information. (If you use "list," the first click gives you basic info, but if you click on the username, it brings up a profile screen for that member. "Map" requires another extra click on the username to get you to the profile.)

Unfortunately, too few include their email addresses in their profiles. But at least you would get a sense about how many OGR Forum members are around you, and you could use their usernames in creating a post to invite them to contact you.

As Bruce said, there are a couple local model train clubs for O scale.  The two big three rail clubs are the Ford Model Railroad Club (as Bruce Mentioned) as well as the Glancy Trains Modular Group from the Detroit Historical Museum.  I'm a member of the Glancy group and it's always nice having the opportunity to go with them to shows.  I always enjoy catching up with the other members at the shows we attend while running our trains.
