Those are some nice videos of the 425. Can't wait to see the Fried Green Tomatoes locomotive.

Roof is originally blue, under all that soot, according to these picrures...

Lionels blue looks really close to this photo of the real engine all cleaned up on this turntable.  The roof looks to be originally blue, then covered with soot.

Lionel model looks like the repaint on the turntable with the nice black pistons...  looks really good...

Sounds like the whistle for the Reading&Northern 425 is different than the whistle for the NP 2256; so not a generic whistle for the Pacifics?

Laz1957 - great video; was surprised that the tender did not have a backup light; however, the ash pan lights make up for it along with gauge lights.

WOW RICK?  Man that is a tough one.  Lionel because of the whistle and whistle smoke or maybe MTH with the color and whistle.  I'm between a rock and a hard place but what a place to be.

Does anybody know what the A&WP 290's whistle sounds like?  I heard that Lionel is doing 290's actual whistle on it.

I am no expert and my eyes are getting old but when I expand the photo, the roof vent cover in the above picture looks to be painted the same as the smoke box.  Doesn't look like soot covered blue to me.  Just my opinion.

Well I was not looking at that hatch.

The curved surfaces of the cab you can see the blue showing thru...  looks like soot to me.

This is the old scheme...  look at the other picture...  thats the one lionel model is.

I will go look for some other pics...  the other pic kinda looks like blue at the front edge, but its really hard to tell.  This cab surface is not as nicely finished as the piston housings that are clearly black painted...

Here you can see the blue top of cab better.  That hatch that is propped open is blue and soot covered, but you can see its blue here.

Talk about soot!  The top of boiler and domes are covered in soot here in this pic!

I'd like to hear the same for the Atlanta & West Point #290 as well.

I guess nobody wants the A&WP 290 at this point. ravenhawk6910 and I are the only ones that are interested in it.

Hi Kids,

My Pacific Atlanta and West Point 290 from Trainworld showed up today.  TW does a great job of double boxing the locomotives with enough padding to protect the original brown factory shipper - first rate!  Ordered it the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and got here (Florida) via UPS today, Monday.  It arrived in pristine condition in its factory foam - no loose parts - no damage.  Well, one minor issue, the micro red lens of one of the tender lanterns was laying in the bottom of the foam box - no worries, crazy glue fixed it.

Tender: no back up light but the lanterns are extremely bright.

Locomotive: blemish free; the side rods are held on with hex bolts and a wrench is included; nice red ash pan lights; cabin light; headlight; gauge lights; standard railsounds and CAB2 functions; the whistle sounds like a duplicate of the Big Boy and FEF3 - very loud; so far, lots of smoke from the whistle and stack - you can see the resistors thru the fill holes; 2 spare tires; smoke fill funnel; smoke dropper; 2 grease ports for the drive gears; no orange memory module.

There is a mystery: included in the box are 2 long black screws in a bag with black rubber spacers.

Been trying to register the VL Niagara and now the Pacific - no dice; the product numbers have not been added to their system.
