Not sure what's gong on with my remote.

Somehow I have 3 engines in the remote: E1, E2, and E42.

I want to wipe out everything and start over.

I looked in the manual on page 50 it provides instructions on how to "Clear Database - Clears All Settings". I did this but the engines still exist.

How do I remove all the engines and start over?

Appreciate the reply, but it does not delete the engine - I think - because I can't get back in to view engines in the remote.

Here's how I'm trying to find all the engines in the remote:

1. Turn remote on by pressing the CTC button.

2. I now see above the word ENG number 41 and in the main display it shows LIONEL CAB1 MODE.

3. I press the INFO button.

4. I press the button below the word CLR (5th button in the line).

5. Remote asks me if I want to CLEAR ENG 41 NAME & SETTINGS.

6. I press the left button below the word YES (second button from left).

7. I am now returned to the main(?) screen and on the top of the screen it displays ENGINE 41 INFO.

8. I press and hold the CTC button until the remote turns off.

9. Turn remote on by pressing the CTC button.

10. Remote is displaying LIONEL CAB1 MODE and above the right-most button (above ENG) it shows 41.

11. I press the INFO button.

12. I press the button below the word CLR (5th button in the line).

13. Remote asks me if I want to CLEAR ENG 41 NAME & SETTINGS.

14. I press the left button below the word YES (second button from left).

15. I am now returned to the main(?) screen and on the top of the screen it displays ENGINE 41 INFO.

Seems like the remote is not responding to the deletion - unless I'm doing something wrong.

NOTE: While doing all this I have the charger/base powered up but the track is powered off.

Ok, I think you cleared the number in your Locomotive, now just enter another number and clear the next one, and then the next. You can tell if you cleared the number by seeing if your engine responds to the ID. If the engines do not come alive, they are cleared.

I just read your track was powered off, so power up, see if the engine responds, I am curious. Thank you, I can tell you that if you have an engine ID on a another engine or accessory, only one will work.  At one time I had an ID on my ATSF StationSounds Diner, #15, and forgetting that, I gave my B&O F3 Powered Unit that number. So, when my ATSF StationSounds Diner would not work, that was the issue. So, I cleared the number, reassigned it to the Diner, it worked.

Not clearing. The remote thinks I have 3 locos but I have only put one into the remote.

Loco doesn't respond to ANY commands.

I'm pretty much convinced this remote it crap! I now know why I've lately been buying only MTH locos because their remote is so easy to use.

I'm wondering if there's something fundamentally wrong with this remote as the battery symbol stays lit. I've even checked the current batters and all are showing 1.5 volts. Even installing brand new batteries the battery symbol shows up.

If the loco does not respond then it’s cleared. Now go in and delete the number.

I thought maybe there was something miswired so I disconnected everything (I was using the MTH TIU) and followed the directions on page 5 of the manual - using my Lionel transformer.

Now when I turn the remote - by pressing and immediately releasing the CTC button - on above the fifth button I see:

E41 with the number 2 above it flashing. What is E41? Shouldn't it be the word ENG?

If I press the ENG button again, now I see E2 wit the number 41 flashing above it.

Press and hold the CTC button until the remote turns off.

Turn remote on by pressing and immediately releasing the CTC button.

Now I see E2 above the last button with the number 41 flashing.

Press the last button and now I see E2 with the number 41 flashing above it.

Definitely all screwed up!

I have already contacted the dealer I purchased the unit from telling them about the problems. Awaiting their response.

What a surprise! Today I received a replacement set (wasn't expecting it until later this week; now I have a box to send back the original unit). It even included a user's manual! I was told by Lionel they no longer produce users manuals for these sets. I know I can download one from their website, but a bound one is great.

So now that I have a supposedly brand new unit, what are the steps I should take?

1. Run the loco as ENG 1 to ensure everything is working (page 12).

2. Upload all the loco data as explained on page 74 (so the loco will not revert to CAB-1 mode).

3. Change ENG id to 41 (page 54).

4. Run the loco as ENG 41 (page 12).

Is this correct?
