Lionel Lion Chief + 2.0 GG1

Can't help you on the GG1, but really endorse the Lion Chief Plus 2.0 line. It's not Legacy, but is much more feature rich than plain vanilla Lion Chief.  In terms of control, you can run them in a variety of ways. Relatively new line over the last few catalogs. I just pre-ordered a LC + 2.0 Amtrak Genesis and a Doodlebug from the latest catalog.

I read somewhere that the Lion Chief Plus 2.0's do not come with a remote.
Can anyone confirm this, and does one need to order the universal Lion Chief remote to go with it?

You don't need one.  They run using a CAB1, a CAB2, a CAB1L, or your phone app.
