Just got word that Lionel cancelled the engine and non powered enter MAERSK/SEALAND #3329

It's always the same reason - lack of orders.

The reason for the cancellation is licensing issues with Maersk. Kato USA did the same a few months ago.

If true, I stand corrected but it begs the question of why the heck did Lionel offer them without securing licensing?

Since Lionel previously did a Maersk train they had previously been granted a license once and may have thought they could procure another license. . Maybe the licensing procedure changed greatly from what it had been and stalled during the application phase.

Would've probably sold better had it been Lionel's post-war tooling and not the mth tooling. There were a lot of complaints about that when the catalog came out
Where does one currently find the shipping schedule list on the Lionel website? I thought it was originally in the support section.

Lionel still has the Maersk Sd-40-2's on their shipping schedule. Would be nice to have an updated one. Then again, I have a slew of MTH 36' reefers on order that are still marked as coming last month.

Kinda like delivering a Hot Chocolate scale dining car that doesn’t play “Hot Chocolate.”
Time to get back to cardboard trains??? What else is not being produced?
