Hey guys,  I've been fiddling around with some stuff I have left around in my basement scrap box and I found a pair of Lionel Mainline operating Crossing signals, specifically the 5 wire variant.  Now why someone needs 5 wires to operate this thing when 2 is perfectly fine for some of my older crossings is beyond me, but anyway I looked up the manual online and I wired it according to the manual but I am having an issue.  The crossings go down but do not go up when I press the contacot pad down with my finger.  In addition, the lights flash continuously whether or not I have pressed the button.  Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Looks like everything is correct. 1. Check the wiring going to the transformer - maybe switch the red and blue wires. 2. Check the 153 contact - you can adjust the spring so that the activation plate is a little higher. That may solve your problem of the gates not going back up. The lights are ties to the gate operation - they should activate as the gate goes down and shut off as the gate goes up.
