Having a hard time trying to get Lionel#6-11411 loaded into my DCS system 4.20. I must be missing something, I've done this before I have one Mohawk loaded in the DCS but this other one won't take.

you can actually add TMCC engines to the dcs remote even if you don't own one.
Menu/system/engine set up/ add engine/ add tmcc engine/
A list of letters comes up on the remote so give the engine a name and after naming hit the "D" for done,
now a list of TMCC address shows up, you have to know the engine TMCC address and enter it. The TMCC address is the one that you would use if you had a cab-1. The engine is now added to the dcs remote and you'll find it in the inactive list.
Lets say..." geez I don't know what the TMCC address is" make one up and now you can use the edit address command following the on screen instructions . place run/program switch etc... If successful you'll get a whistle blast indicating the new address took.
Thanks Gregg Sounds like I did it right, I can get it to come up on the screen and move to active list but engine does not respond even when it is sitting there idling all this time.
Yep , sounds like you may not have a cab-1 to test. you now have a TMCC engine to work with so maybe try editing the TMCC address.
I do have a cab 1 works good with that just can't get it to work in DCS. Would the speed steps have something to do with it?
Be sure to set speed to 32 steps. And if that works.
Can you fire the coupler? I don't think you should get sounds until the engine is started up. Try changing the speed steps as Zephyr suggests.
Clem,
When you try to give the TMCC engine a command using the DCS Remote, does the red LED on the Command Base blink?
If it does, then you most likely entered the engine's TMCC ID# incorrectly when you added it.
If it does not blink, most likely one of three things is wrong:

Ok I got the Mohawk in a DCS remote, different one than I had been using, Also changed the speed steps to 32. Lionel directions on that are not real clear, Engine works great all functions on DCS seem to be there. I did a edit on the name that worked good, but changing the address doesn't seem to take. It shows up on the screen as correct but than when I select the engine to run the same old address is there #1. I'm trying to change to #9
Great!
Been there, done that.

You can change only the engine's TMCC ID#, not it's DCS ID#.

Hi Clem... As Barry mentioned we actually never see the TMCC address on the remote. We only see the location on the dcs remote. A TMCC engine adds to the lowest available spot . Ex the engine could have an TMCC address of 52 and show up on the remote at dcs spot4.
Some of us do put the actual TMCC address when editing the name. Ex SD-40 tmcc 9 .This would show up at the lowest available spot on the dcs remote.
Menu/system/ engine set up/edit engine/edit address/ select engine/
place run program switch to program ....select new address ( message comes up changing address from 1 to 9) Put program switch back to run. engine must be on track to edit address...
Good luck

Good morning Gregg……….That is what I'm trying to do, change the address on the DCS remote. When I do as you have written it won't change, it stays at what ever number is the lowest opening. According to Barry I can't do that, I want to list this engine with my other NYC engines.Seems strange I can't change the DCS address.Guess what I will do is load all the lower DCS address's and leave #9 as the lowest.
Thank you Gregg and Barry

Hey Clem
I get it now (I think) You want the engine at spot 9 (dcs id 9) on the remote.
You can make up fake TMCC engines to fill in the lower spots. Ex .. add TMCC engine , call it A , "D" for done and any TMCC address. You can then delete them later
My last name is Clemmens, I get a lot of Clem as well.
