Lionel O Guage wiring question

Newby here -

Using Lionel Polar Express and train slows down on other end of layout. Layout size is 8'12. I was told to put a second electric feeder track on the other end of the layout from existing transformer and then tie both feeders to the transformer. Ie: Put both red wires to the red conduit and the black wires to the black conduit. Can you do this? Any better ideas?
