just purchased a SC-2 accessorry switch controller and trying to wire by 2 lionel 042 remote switches to be used by my legacy control. Switches work with the manual switch controllers that came with them. I used fiber pins on the inside of the rails of the switches liek normal and they work correctly. Having a heck of a time trying to get it wired to the SC2. Using my postwar ZW Fixed voltage plug and i hooked wire to the side ports of the sc2. Have a gren light on the SC2 and when i hit the divergent on the legacy it switches real fast. I cannot remember what cause this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

It sounds like you have an O22 switch in O42 curve. Page 9 of the SC-2 manual shows the hook-up.
Two things that I see:
#1 they show the manual controller connected to the ports on the SC-2 rather than the switch- I don't know why - but, test that setup
#2 The SC-2 is a strange beast - it is always mentioned not to use the same transformer as the track power transformer to power it
thanx yep that might be it. i emailed mike reagan who was lionels guy till last yr. and he sent me a reply indicating same. real good guy for emailing me back
Are these switches "O" or "O-27" profile?
O
Catalog number? Photograph?
Ok, that helps.
Are you operating Legacy/TMCC engines with fixed track voltage?
if yes, place the track power jumper bar across both terminals. Power the switch from track power.
it should be straightforward with those modern switch motors.
I see that you have the SC-2 powered by the included wallpack. That's good.
Turn on everything and leave the SC-2 to switch wires disconnected.
Test the SC-2 by selecting SW and press 1 on the remote. Then, press out and listen for the relay. Then, press thru and listen for the relay.
Press SW and 2 and test that.
Is the SC-2 operating properly?
Now, connect the common wire to the center of the SC-2 port. The screw opens the clamp downward and when you tighten the screw the clamp moves up. Hold the bare end of the wire to the top when tighten. Keep the stripped end to 1/4". This is the key - not poking too much into the port and knowing that it clamps moving to the top of the port.
Now connect that to the G terminal on the switch.
next try one of the wires for out or thru and find the correct terminal on the switch. It looks like it has three dashes - - - then do the other for the OUT.
From the photo you had it looked like SW-2 was connected to the switch.
You'll get used to it. I found that once I was in SW mode, you can just press the switch number to quickly change between switches.
Any joy?
