I just recently bought a Lionel operating track section and a log dump car the track section isn't activating the car. The uncoupling section works but it won't activate the car. Any suggestions

Make sure the operating track and controller are wired properly. Get a voltmeter and check for power between each control rail and ground when the unload button is pressed.

If power is present after perform the test trainlarry suggests, check to ensure the shoes on the trucks are in contact with the inner rails of the operating track.
