I am interested in purchasing the polar express steam engine and tender, I am confused as to which engine has the steam whistle on the engine. I have noticed several different models sets, I am confused which one actually has the steam whistle. Please advise. Thanks

Be advised the Whistle may not be loud enough due to new child compliance toy regs. you may have to due a little "surgery" bypass the resistor on the whistle found in the tender to hear it whoo whooo!
So do you end up getting the same thing with this engine as if you bought the additional Trainsounds tender and paired it with the engine that comes in the set? Just that the sound comes out of the engine vs. the tender? Or are there other differences?
