This set just arrived as a special gift for number three son.

PROS:  Engine took off right out of the box.  Really fast says son.

All sounds work fine.

Crew members in cab.

Lighting is very even and much warmer than steamer PE.

Superb paint job.

No interior passengers but cars are detailed with seats (and a bathroom!).

CONS:  Extra coupler on rear of observation car.

No coupler on one of the passenger cars.

Had to switch them out.  Not a big deal but this goes back to QC before the set goes in the box.

Anyone else have or contemplating having this set?

I have both the set and the add-on two car set.

Love it. It's a great looking, well finished conventional set. I would though like to add speed control to it if that's possible while still keeping the sounds that originally came with it. Anybody have experience doing that?

Also planning to populate cars with passengers but uncertain which, whose figures would look and be the best proportioned. Suggestions are most welcome on both figures and speed control..

You're welcome Emile. For those who'd like to know more about this terrific set, here are details from Lionel.

Is having a coupler on end of the observation car really a bad thing?  All of the videos above show that it is a standard feature.  Its missing coupler is, however an issue!

Thanks very much for the links.

Will have to find a set break up (no track or transformer)to cut down on the postage costs.
