LIONEL POLAR EXPRESS STREAMLINER DIESEL SET

I have both the set and the add-on two car set.

Love it. It's a great looking, well finished conventional set. I would though like to add speed control to it if that's possible while still keeping the sounds that originally came with it. Anybody have experience doing that?

Also planning to populate cars with passengers but uncertain which, whose figures would look and be the best proportioned. Suggestions are most welcome on both figures and speed control..

Nice gift for your son. Many on the Forum who have purchased this set rave about it.

Have seen set, and L did a great job with it.  You have to believe though, the PE had diesel power.

Thanks for posting this link. I love the PE Streamliner. I think it is a really good value. You get a lot for the dollar. Beautiful train, strong puller, great sounds and fun to run.

I don't do passenger trains, but I grabbed the locomotive from a set breakup to pull one of my Polar Railroad freight trains.  It's a terrific locomotive!

   That's a great idea. The FT Diesel looks right at home with freight cars. With the Polar Railroad GP7 getting harder to find, I think a lot of people will be following your lead. I know I will. Thanks for sharing your video.

If it had Legacy, it would be part of my Christmas train setup, along with the Polar RR Geep, which I already have.

RadioRon, I assumed that a rounded observation car would not have a coupler.  My early 90s passenger cars do not.  So I guess I did have a missing coupler.  In my PROs, I neglected to mention the opening doors, diaphragms, and 10th anniversary badging.  Son really likes this set!

Great looking! I think Lionel ought to add either another A unit or a B unit to go with this set.

Has anyone put passengers in the cars? What size figures did you use? Whose figures did you use? Where did you get them?
