I have the CAB-1L/BASE-1L Command Set, 73155 and 37156.  Bought the Legacy Powermaster 37146.  QUESTION is: Do I hookup the 37146 Legacy PM to the 1L Command Base, OR use the PM 37146 by itself? Purchased the PM 37146 to run my conventional engines.

Also....and you can see I'm a newbie at this........can I run TMCC engines of the 77146?

You aren't missing anything, the connections are easier compared to the older Lionel TMCC equipment. Plug the Legacy Command Base into an 120Vac outlet with a third prong, then a wire from the U terminal to the outside rails.

Then hook an AC transformer to the Molex style connection (the 180W brick makes it sooo easy), then the other two binding posts to the track, with the one labelled U going to the outer rails. And obviously plug that transformer into an 120VAC outlet.

That's it, no more connections.  The new Legacy PowerMaster listens into the 450 or 455 kHz on the track and on the U terminal; so that signal could be coming from the Legacy Command Base, it could come from an old Command Base, or it could be whatever that new Legacy remote base that I am not familar with.

Answer 1: From the Legacy Powermaster Manual:

Answer to question 2:

Yes. The Powermaster only regulates how much voltage you send to the track.

So to operate a TMCC engine first address the Powermaster, second raise track voltage all the way up (18volts or so), third operate the TMCC engine with the Cab1L.

Thanks for the above.
