Lionel shipping schedule question

Should be available soon. Saw list at LHS of items being shipped, Motor City set was on the list along with the auto carriers. Also on the list NJ Transit set, KCS set and the Berkshire pass set.

But this is an ill-fated decision that's bound to cause lots of confusion on an ongoing basis for quite some time.

One could assume the Berk freight set and PRR scale merchandise car are also in the pipeline?

If I recall correctly, the PRR Merchanidise car was on the list but not the freight set.

Also on the list was a few PS-2 hoppers.

I too speak from my own experience.  Apparently their website does not always accurately reflect actual store availability.  I guess what I'm saying is overselling an item with their system is possible.  It happened to me.

I have no hard feelings towards Charlie Ro.  Always treated me fine otherwise.

Motor City set. I would think that the larger dealers would have ordered more than just their preorder numbers. So some should be available. Actually I think they will sell all of them. We have run MTHs 22 inch cars and once on the layout they don't look too big.

Another factor is that the new cars are suppose to have flex coupler arms to assist on curves,

Charlie, I've ordered once or twice from the website for a one-off item.  Every other time, I've called the store to confirm availability, whenever I thought something was particularly important to order.  Always best to call the store and speak to a "real" person.  

Technology has its place, but I don't trust it for the important things.

I spoke to Charles Ro this morning and there is a large shipment scheduled to arrive at their facility tomorrow. If you have something on order scheduled to arrive in December, I would recommend you check with your dealer tomorrow.

It appears that many of us will be pleased that Lionel is making a good attempt to stay on schedule, particularly with their Christmas related items.

You assume I didn't call.  Your wrong!

Charlie Ro is a good outfit and treated me right many times.  I'm just pointing out that missing out on an item is possible.

I made no assumptions... just suggesting that everyone call their dealer if something is that important, rather than purely relying on a website order.

On a related note... I still see two very notable items STILL listed on the shipping schedule, which implies they haven't shipped in December yet. 

• One is something I've had on order since Springtime:  the UP 4-12-2 #9000 in the old livery graphics.
• And the other is something I don't have on order, but have been tracking as a matter of future interest:  the new ZW-L.

Not too many more days left for a 2012 delivery of these items.

Wonder what the story is with these.

Same question for the California Zephyr passenger cars... the 4-pk and 2-pk are slated for May 2013 too, but another 2-pk shows January 2013.  I'm skeptical about the latter... thinking it will very likely arrive with the others later in the year.  But who knows for sure. 

Doesn't seem to be ANY rhyme or reason to these passenger car delays.  Also, even the Blue Comet and Southern Crescent heavyweights are still on the schedule for December 2012... and unlikely to make a Christmas delivery at this point.    Not a good track record for scale passenger cars this year, although it does appear the scale Polar Express add-ons may make it in time for Christmas... just barely. 

Those are plastic though.  Seems to me it's the aluminum that is the problem.
