Wow! Lionel is really finishing 2014 with a bang! I applaud whatever is happening in the Lionel Boardroom. This seems like a very big turnaround from their prior history of delays that sometimes stretched for years. I thought it was impressive that they managed to deliver the new PE and other Christmas cars in time for Christmas, but I don't think that anybody really expected to see the Bog Boys in 2014. I was hoping for a Spring 2015 delivery and was prepared to go until Summer 2015 before staring to complain. I will have to completely reconsider my view of the Lionel production system. Whether this was due to the BTO system or something else, 2014 is turning out to be a significant milestone in the Lionel company management evolution. Well Done Lionel! ...and Well Done Charlie Nassau for your frequent updates and for executing a first class delivery system that puts these new products in our hands, literally overnight.

Ditto from me as this info made my day.

Now, without bothering Charlie or Chris can someone clarify whether these are the dates Lionel sends the products to dealers or when dealers can expect to have them in stock to ship? It could make a big difference in terms of what you have under the tree on Christmas morning!

I just checked the Charles Ro website and it's still showing "expected availabilty" for the Big Boy on 10 December and the Daylight cab forward on 23 December. I think from a previous thread that these are the dates the items are expected to reach Ro.

Ours just came in. We have an extra set. Ten percent off and free shipping. 317.569.1999.

Only I did preorder it with Charlie.  With it being Christmas and Black Friday and such I'm sure they are really busy.

Not that I saw.

VERY noteworthy.

Should be interesting to watch this space closely -- not because I ordered one, but because I'm hoping the N&W set isn't another production nightmare like the CZ debacle.

If it is, I'll be very tempted to cancel my pre-order for the Texas Special 18" passenger cars -- along with the matching E8/E9 diesels -- now due out in March 2015 and February 2015, respectively, (according to the online shipping schedule).  So there are indeed ramifications to the problem-laden manufacturing issues we're experiencing with "premium" products at this time.

Chris did contact you and told you the other set is due in next week (now tomorrow) and would rather ship them together. He will be calling you tomorrow. Thanks Charlie

Thanks for the clarification, as I misunderstood what he was saying in the email since I didn't know the other set was due so soon.  Then by all means ship them together, the more the merrier!  I'm glad I picked you guys to order from, it's a pity you aren't here in the west.

To be fair, the sample I saw at York looked poor.  Maybe is was the lights.  I'm not sure but the photos from those posted here look better. Still not my cup of tea but it does look better.

I love the guys that whined about the gold polar express pics form york and then when they arrived did a 180 and bought one.  This hobby is a trip.

Sarcasm we can do without, for sure.

Having seen the sample I saw at York with my own eyes, you're welcome to review my first comments instead of making snide comments.  I said I found the satin gold finish uniquely appealing compared to the gold-plated Hudson photos (which I posted).  I then stated the blue-on-gold graphics were harsh on the eye, and were most difficult to look at for an extended period of time due to the color bleed.  That clearly wasn't the case in the production model, which I'm glad for folks who had this loco on pre-order.

Had Lionel produced the gold loco that was displayed at York, I would have passed.  As it turns out the graphics on the production models were much more pleasing to the eye.    The wheel bearing issue is something that needs addressing, but at least it should be manageable without shipping the loco back to Lionel.

As for my comments about the current state of Lionel's aluminum passenger car production, I'll stand by every comment I've made here.    And pardon me if I choose to not spend my $$$ on a poorly produced item.

Some of you folks here are the real trip -- it's not the hobby.

To clarify the etiquette for this forum...incessant whining is acceptable but sarcasm is intolerable.

Of course people are free spend their hard earned dollars on whatever floats their boat. And people are also free to share whatever negative comments they have about whatever toy train product they are unhappy with on an open forum such as this.  I find the incessant whining and obligatory hand-wringing in form of rants and tirades far more detrimental to the hobby than sarcastic commentary on the tone of this forum.  You say tomato and I say enough of the whining.
