8A05B97C-CA34-4486-A51C-3CE07E3F1E06I’m weighing in on the NS theatre car. Not even in the same galaxy. Thankfully there wasn’t a stripe that had to be matched also. We can land successfully on Mars but can’t paint a single passenger car even close to the N&W or NS Tuscan color.

Great features, easy to use the app, and the irony is the video won’t pick up this horrible mistake. I got a kick out of changing the time zone from China to Central. The date and time stamp is s nice feature. Glad I also ordered the UP version, it’s SPOT ON!

I have never before seen a train video by this guy, J.R. O’Connor, but he deserves credit for making this one of his UP theater car:

It’s a nice split screen effort showing the car being pulled around his work in progress layout so you see both the whole car rolling along and the view from the onboard camera side by side. I don’t know what setting he used for the onboard camera but subject to one point it looks to me to produce a smooth (non-jerky) image at reasonable resolution.

There does seem to be some issue with a fuzzy/out of focus band across the bottom of the scene through the car’s observation window but I can probably live with that.

I know the window placements on these cars are not absolutely prototypical but overall this UP version still looks good to me. One thing about the interior is that it looks like Lionel has used a gray finish on the seating instead of the bland light yellow on the Excursion Train cars, which is no small improvement.

Fine effort Mr O’Connor.

I was gonna share his video myself it’s excellent as you note.   Great work

I should be getting my NS one today, I am not really concerned about the color, since I run a wide assortment of trains, with all kinds of interesting things going on. Though I am not really able to run it currently since I am busy with school work. I also am planning on redoing my main layout.

I don’t have any OCS cars but I did buy the CSX version as I live, by shear luck, less less than a mile from MP 16/17 on the CSX River Line/West Shore and can get to just about any point north to Selkirk.

i just thought it would be a cool car to have and really never thought about OCS cars.

I don’t recall seeing CSX OCS cars on the rails but have see the geometry cars which is blue.

I won’t have anything to compare the new CSX car to so does anyone have pictures of the MTH or Lionel cars? If you have the item numbers too that would be great.

great thread guys.

Th video is not very clear from what I see on YouTube.  The resolution comes up as a max of 480p.  Is that all the camera can do 480p or is that just what you uploaded to YouTube?

I would think Lionel would have done at least 1080p in this day and age.

From the Lionel website...

"Wi-Fi Hi-Def 1080p camera transmits live video and records video/pictures via downloadable app for Apple, Android or PC"
