Lionel Thomas set and Harold Helicopter with red button

Neighbors brought their grandson over to play in my Run Room yesterday and the 4 year old discovered a red button in the bottom and Harold. I had never noticed it. There's a string attached to the button. I could retract the button back into the body by turning the blade. How is it supposed to work? Pulling on the button didn't appear to do much.

I believe the red button is a magnet. Try using it on a couple of iron bits like washers.
