I'm attempting to fix-up one of these TMCC-era Interurban/MU cars that had been robbed for parts. Lionel offered them in New Haven, Reading, Long Island, Illinois Central and Southern Pacific liveries in the early 2000's.
My question involves the antenna for the electronics. Unfortunately, Lionel never did an exploded diagram for these units, so I don't know how the internal antenna was done at the factory. I guess there would be three possible antenna choices:
1) Taped to the roof
2) Strapped across the top of the die-cast speaker enclosure with stand-offs
3) Soldiered to the pantograph lug, using a pantograph as the antenna
I'm somewhat of a stickler for putting things back the way the factory assembled them, so has anyone been inside one of these lately that can tell me how the antenna was done?
