lionel trains back to the drawing board

my first layout is probably going to be 5 by 9 or 6 by 10 to start off with a basic 3 rail layout

i mean my first layout is probably gonna be on the floor with a few turnouts and maybe a diamond crossover

all this crazy talk about i've been doing about huge layouts at the age of 20 is silly

but i stumbled on 2 lionel trains i need help identifying so maybe i can ask Dale if he can help locate them for me

the trains in the photo i'm trying to identify are the GP7 set with the hi cubes and the SD40 set with tank cars

one thing you all will agree with is with my other posts of maglev and 2 rail scale i was way in over my head

maybe i need advice from people to take it down a knotch because here lately i've been running in knotch 8.

The set with the GP7 used to be an F7 since you like F7's so much.

The set with the SD40 was once a maglev train. Maybe with a little elbow grease and imagination you can make it a maglev train again and run it oh say, Mach 3.

The top set is the Lionel Centennial GP9 from 1997. The high cube boxcars with it are from the same year and are sold in a four car set. I have these and love them. The GP9 has a Pulmor motor and is also early command control. A great runner.

Be careful, collecting Lionel livery items can be addicting cool

The GP9 and high cubes can be seen here in my video from several years ago...

Paigetrain - I see you found a photo of my layout / train room. Here are two more Lionel decorated items, the SD-90 and Pacific steam loco. If memory serves me correct, they go back to 1999/2000. One thing that never make sense to me with those 1997 and 1998 diesel sets is the lack of caboose on both sets.
