Walkways on the long hood portion should also be red.

On the GP60M, the nose top was eventually painted Black to reduce glare.

Handrails at front and back end should be yellow. (EDIT: looks like that was already noted)

Wow, one of my favorite engines (SD40-2) in a great livery. Nice Stu!

What fun it would be to have some  scale size warbonnet freight cars to run behind these beauties. (The LOTS Santa Fe Series cars are mostly what I call 027 size.)

Sort of like what K-Line did with the BlackBonnet 17 Car Freight Train. (Four each Hopper, Box, maybe another hopper or gondola, tank car and caboose)

Yup, that's how similar hood units did the walkways.  I was always curious about this.  In general terms, with the red/silver warbonnet paint scheme, the silver is always next to the black pinstripe and the red is always next to the yellow pinstripe.

The SD40-2 walkway on the long hood portion is at 2 levels (there's a step in the walkway).  The lower portion of the walkway (the rear porch level) seems to make total sense to be red.  However, along the side, there's a step up in the walkway.  Once you make the step up, you're above the black pinstripe and you're in the silver area.  I always wonder why Santa Fe painted the walkway red in this stepped up area.  Silver would seem to be the logical choice for the raised walkway area.

The red was a special anti-slip texture, or maybe it appeared that way due to the diamond plate texture of walkway. The raised walkway (including battery boxes on hood units) would be red.

Maybe the red/yellow/black lines should be higher on the side to the top of the step-up like in the photo provided by SPSF.  Then it would make sense to have the walkways red.
