Here's an alignment check on the pilot while I wait for the longer micro screws I ordered to hold it in place. (Model is actually upside down in the cradle with track laid on top)

However in the time since I've taken this photo I've partially scraped off the nose decal when my hand slipped re installing the hand grabs.....grrr! Now I have to remove and replace decal for the third time!

Witt that pilot looks great.  You did a stellar job of fitting it to the nose!

Taking care of some minor issues with the car 1st, 15" steering wheel swap, new wheels and tires, replacing some weatherstripping and getting it ready for summer, before I dive back into the loco projects.

I find all corvettes a pita for egress at my age. You have to develop your own way of getting in and out, but I have that problem with just about any vehicle, except an SUV or pick-up, which is why I drive them. The 62 is easy with the top down, but when up it makes you go through all kinds of gyrations and I think I know what a beached whale feels like.

I'm turning 71 and yes  my Z06 is a pain to get in and out of, but so worth it. My daily driver is getting ready to turn 98,000 miles and still runs like new.

Union Pacific TTT

A nice 2R TTT comparison.  Having briefly owned the #5077 and the spectacular Peter Bassett #5032  I'm thrilled to fill the hole in my collection with the Custom #5082.  At first I thought it would be a highly modified KTM, like the Bassett model, however on first inspection it does appear to be custom built from scratch, including the tender. I'm doing more research to confirm. It appears to be a pretty accurate model of a Lima built TTT-6, with Young valve gear and Coffin feedwater heater system.   Pilot tweaked in during shipping, I'll get to that soon enough.   Enjoy!

They were everywhere on the Union Pacific system yet hard to find in O scale.

Done little modeling in the past 4 months as much going on it personal life and the vette has only seen a few updates as well.

Boiler weight and electronics have been fully removed from the Bassett 2-10-2 and it will be a totally different animal (power wise) when it goes back together. Many of the complicated 1980's systems will be eliminated in favor of making it easier to maintain and play with. But, all the fabulous detail will remain plus even some additions. 

Added some new wheels and tires to the 62.

Yes Bob, for a scratch build, whoever the modeler was did a fantastic job for a Lima built TTT-6.

I still haven't had a chance to shake it down and see what kind of runner it is.  However, it's sure nice to look at.

It's been quiet for a while. Still searching for some hard to find steamers.  Not much new on the Manufacturer side either.

3rd Rail's UP 2-8-2 Mikado is a nice prototypical model that can usually be picked up at a reasonable price.  Makes for a nice mid-sized brass runner for smaller 2R layout.

Another nicely detailed piece picked up from an East coast collector.

I just found this interesting thread. Not much UP on my layout, and nothing majestic like the big locomotives that have been posted. Still, the few I have are colorful and I think interesting. I hope you enjoy them too.

That is a K-Line scale Mik released during the final year of their existance.

KTM Union Pacific 2-8-0 Consolidation

Nice clean brass model. The KTM version seems to be a bit of a generic early 1950's appearance.  Can't seem to find any match during extensive photo research.  Not anywhere near the beautiful p48 modification seen earlier on this thread.

It's pretty close in appearance to #6201

So I think I will modify it to coal burning and renumber.  The right hand side doesn't exactly match, nor does the 9000 gal tender. (7000 gal in photo). But I'll live with the variance since my skill won't extend beyond those simple changes.

MTH 20-90245 Union Pacific Skeleton Flat Car W/Log Load 6-Car Set

This is a fun set.  I've been looking for this one for some time. Still looking for for the matching 20-90246.

Very HEAVY cars for their size.  The logs are plastic but the body is die-cast. Nicely detailed and very smooth runners.  The fine chain details have small springs on each hook to hold the timber in place.

Not sure if I'll keep as is or try to 3RS or 2-rail them adding Kadee couplers.

No new item photos to post yet, but I am happy I have my new photo booth set-up in place. Finally decided to use a tripod too, in order to avoid my shaky hands blur.

A couple test photos with different colored models (KTM 2-8-0, Atlas 40' Stock, and my incomplete 3rd Rail E7 project) to check lighting.  Looks alright.  Not quite Erik or Santiago level quality but better than the yellowish whiteout I was getting before. 

Makes me want to re-photo everything.  I have a few new Heavyweights that just arrived.  I'll post soon.
