All, I recently bought a lionel Norfolk Southern Vision line genset (item # 6-28325). I bought it and tested it. At the time it was good, but now, the smoke unit that is under "generator 3" refuses to work. I have tried many feature resets yet it still refuses to function. Both other units are fine, just the one. There is no hot air coming out of the flap, so I suspect that a smoke unit fan motor is to blame. Is this likely? Is there something else I could try before working up the guts to pop er open? Thanks,

Been there.  A few things to look at.

Follow the plug that goes into the smoke unit to where it goes into the smoke control board.  Pull the plug and plug it back in.  I have been lucky two times.   Power the engine up with the shell off and see if your heater is working (getting hot) and if it is, pull the plug that goes into the smoke unit and put power to the fan motor.  You might just have a bad fan motor.  The smoke units come out very easy to service.  Good luck.

Ok, I tried to open the genset up. I removed all the body screws but the fixed pilots are interfering my removing of the shell. Should I remove the electrocouplers? Or what else should I do?

A note. This is probably my last post on this thread due to the fact that I am in south florida and am preparing for a possible hurricane, so please do not ask for updates as I may not be able to post. Thank you for your help and understanding,

Nickstrains.
