Have been trying to warranty register my Niagara, USRA Pacific, and H-10 using the 6-xxxxx model numbers since October; the webpage sez the numbers are not found; are we supposed to be using a different model number?

There should be a serial number on the Lionel trains tag that you use,at least that's the way it was with the last Vision engine I did (gevo).

Look under the Cab there is a number there with a Lionel logo on it. That is the number for registration.
@RickM46 Site takes registration as "out of warranty" only! Why I can't explain(site instructs you to do this)
I think the registration is obsolete. It was used early on when Lionel was interested.
I think you guys are right - obsolete - I was able to register my last locomotives I bought this summer; however, now, as you have indicated, not. The in warranty selection does not recognize the new model numbers; the out of warranty selection does recognize the model numbers but does not allow you to enter date and dealer; so you have to keep track of that info yourself and make sure you have your receipts. So, why even do it???
I called them and they took care of it for me.
Jim
Edit: I think now all you do is keep a copy of your original receipt and they honor it .
I never understood the registration concept. The item exists, don’t need to prove that. Lionel knows they made it, don’t need to prove that. If it’s a matter of proving ownership okay, I don’t see why that matters, but if I have to show the receipt...

Seems like keeping the database of warranty items is not being done via their webpage; I will call them just as Jim did.
I think if you drop the prefix (6-) it might work.
Dropping the 6- doesn't work either; but thanks for the suggestion.
Registration starts the almighty warranty clock that Lionel hopes ticks away quickly. Every minute I spend waiting on the phone to reach Lionel is one minute less of my warranty.

It's a shame. When that guy from Trainworx worked for Lionel. Warranty repair was an email and a response within 24 hrs away.
RICKO,
AMEN to that !!!
No need to register. Even if you do, you have to have a receipt anyway to prove the purchase date.
Anyone can go on a website and put in any date they want.
It is just a waste of time registering anything in today's world.
It is just a tool companies use to collect data.
The only things I ever register are electrical appliances and that is just in case of a safety recall.
