Hi everyone,

I just saw Lionel's new product review of the New Legacy Berk. Looks like a sweet engine especially with all the detail and different boilers for each road name. They did not say in the video why the whistle steam effect was not incorporated like it was originally advertised. Also, they still have that same stupid New York engineer crewtalk. Please Lionel if you are reading this..... change the crewtalk!!!!!

Opinions are welcome!

It could be that the extra screw holes are used in other boiler designs.  The variation in boilers could also help to explain the lack of whistle steam, as different placement may have proved to be a major production problem.

Sure don't know about THAT. On a real steam locomotive, you better NOT have the whistle "out of sight", because when you blow boiler pressure steam thru it, the whistle had better be out in the open in order to be heard, plus allow the spent steam to be exhausted into the atmosphere.

On the K-Line original Berks, they simply forgot to mount little cast brass whistles on some of the models, if not ALL of them, and Lionel didn't catch that little detail when they re-produced them.
