Hi, my boy has a little lionel copper range set santa brought a few years back. It only comes out at Christmas. Has almost no run time.  Last year the whistle, bell etc worked fine. After setting it up last night we found it runs just fine but no whistle etc. The switches are all on and the wires to the track are correct. Anybody know anything about this?

This is why I don't like the newer trains. Too many "fancies", circuit boards etc.  The old postwars, one knows right where to look and can fix it ourselves.

Any help would be great. Maybe we have to "re-set" something? I don't know and the manual isn't much help.

Thanks,

Matt

Make sure you have something else drawing current on the same circuit, like a lighted caboose. Sometimes the CW-80 transformers can be finicky this way.

You might also want to try wiggling the sound switch back-and-forth a few times to be sure its contacts haven't oxidized.

Note that the Lionel Docksiders only came with a whistle but no bell. Make sure your track polarity is correct.

I hope this helps-
