Hello all,

First time loading a sound file- started this project a year ago and got sidetracked, finally back to it.  I have a 3 volt board from a diesel, can't remember what kind I just know I tested it before removing the board.  I am attempting to load a USRA pacific file (3Volt) and it looks like it is writing erasing the same sector over and over.  I have tried it twice, this time I have let it go a full hour.  It did have one error but took right off when I hit retry.

Not sure what to try next.

Thanks

Scott

Gregg,

The loader program, consumer vs. service versions, won't make a difference.

I expect that what George is calling MTH's "factory loader" is referring to a hardware device called a "POGO board" that is used to speed-load PS2 and PS3 engine files.

I think I need one of those... I'm trying to upload a file to save on the computer with version 5, It's taking forever...   I don't recall anything about sectors with V5.  It just does it.

Thanks for all of the responses. The program gets to sector 3 before it goes into what I would call a loop. It continually goes to sector 3 writes, erases, etc . I was also able to pull the existing file off with out any problem.

I will try a different file tomorrow- unfortunately it is bedtime.

Thanks again all!

Marty & John,

I set up a separate TIU and test track to do the loading. Both of my TIU's are older versions with serial ports, so I had to use a USB converter. I am running the power thru fixed #1.  To run DC would I just connect a DC supply to Fixed #1?  The only DC supply I have is an old MRC techII I use with my LGB, and I think it will only go 16V.  Is that enough?

Thanks again to all

Is it only with PS3 that you need like 20 feet of wire before the track to dampen the signal? I remember during training the guys saying that if you dont have a long coil of wire it can cause errors. The analogy he used was "its like having a conversation with somebody sitting next to you and screaming at the top of your lungs"

Since Matt mentioned it, I also had trouble with a cable a while back, but I can't remember the error I got? The cable I had was the USB to serial cable recommended by Lionel in their tutorial video. It works just fine with my Legacy system, but I have never been able to make it work with my DCS system, for what ever reason that may be? I don't know if the cable is even a possibility here, but it might be worth trying a different one.
