I am wondering how it would look and run, if I bought a new Lionel Legacy UP ES44 SuperBass #2433469 to run with my Lionel Legacy SD70ACE powered unit #6-84106.

Both are 19” long. Hoping that the color yellow will be the same.

All comments are appreciated. I was hoping for a SD70ACE SuperBass but so far I haven’t seen one from Lionel and this is as close as I can see so far.

Thanks!

Stan

Great Question, @stangtrain, I’m going to say you’ll be really happy with the addition of a SuperBass add on diesel. Years ago, when Lionel first introduced Legacy AC6000’s, I purchased the 4 diesel set which included one with the SuperBass. I still have one of the CSX AC6000 diesel’s with SuperBass. I sold most of the older units and replaced them with newer units however the SuperBass still sounds great, we call this lash up, Rolling Thunder…. Go for it…. Happy Railroading Everyone IMG_1942IMG_1943IMG_1940IMG_1939IMG_1728IMG_1282

Just ordered the Lionel Legacy SuperBass ES44 from one of the Forum Sponsors and look forward to running and mostly hearing it run on my layout!

BTW, thanks Forum moderator for moving this post to the correct category! I suppose 3RS is where I thought it belonged, but now I totally agree that “Lionel General Topics” is a much better fit. I plan to do better in the future. Lesson learned!

I received the Lionel Legacy SuperBass ES44 yesterday and the locomotive looks great together with my SD70 ACE and the sounds are amazing!

I set up a "lashup" with the ES44 SuperBass unit in front. Is there a way to create a "lashup" with sounds coming from both units in the "train"? I think I would prefer the SD70 ACE (motorized unit) at the lead.

Thanks!

Stan

With the two specific engines you have you have, the ES44 has a bell and horn that sound pretty close to the fixed bell and horn in the SD70ACe you have.  Try it and see how it sounds.  In the CAB2 when you are making the train the lead engine by default will sound bell and horn.  If you want trailing units to do the same then when you add the trailing units push the horn icon (right below the 0 on the touch screen).  There isn’t a way to have both horns, but not both bells.  Once the train is made you then have to use AUX1 and horn or bell sliders to select the horn and bell on the ES44 until they sound close to the SD70ACe.  On CAB3 you do much the same thing.  When making the train you can enable the horn and bell on the trailing units.
