Looking for Repro 392e | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I've got a 4-car Stephen Girard set I've been trying to sell for a while, but I think I might just end up keeping it. I've been looking for a black 392e to go with it but I can't seem to find one for a reasonable price. I can find MTH 400e's for around $5-600 or even less sometimes, but the 392 for some reason is sticking around the $7-800 mark + shipping.

What is the reason for that? It's a smaller locomotive and certainly doesn't have the prestige the 400e carries, so why is the price higher?

The 392E has excellent proportions, to my mind the best of all of the Lionel std-gauge locomotives. That and the fact that the 400E has had numerous repro production runs, the 392E not so much. I have one, an early MTH with Protosound, and it's the flagship of the roster.
