Map?

Here is another twist- on the map put the forum sponsors. Example- I had no idea Stockyard Express was 13 minutes off a route we travel for business four times a year. I am positive that there are a lot of these places that we don't realize are in our back yard. It would increase traffic to the sponsors, I would bet on it.

I love the idea of a forum "Google style" map.  It'd be great if you could pick and choose what you'd like to see on the map, but forum sponsors could always be listed.

It'd also be nice to know which other forum members live close by.  Pins would not have to be dropped on forum member's rooftops (privacy concerns), they could be at the city or county level if the forum member felt more comfortable with that. 

Pins on the map for all LHS would be nice too.  I sometimes go on business trips and get a few extra hours where I could certainly stop by a new LHS and see if they have a layout or if they are up for visitors.  The tough part about this is that when I am traveling I usually can only visit places after business hours, so I've "visited" many LHS's over the years and only been able to loop through the window.

It can definitely be done.  Model Railroad Hobbyist has such a feature.  Go to http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/ and look at the "Goodies" pull-down menu on the right top.  Click on "MRH members map" to see it.
