I have exactly the same set, with the box. Even the #999 is identical, right down to the solid pilot. Its a great set with nice lithography, and the locomotive is an excellent runner.
I have a very similar set from a family friend who recently passed away. His generation took care of their toys. A little oil, cleaning, and a few warm up laps and the old NYC was as good as new! I also have a yard light and crossing arm and bell. This led to other purchases as well! Looks great and runs on a loop of Lionel fast track quite well. Good job there!
