I'm surprised no one noticed the UTLX tank car yet. How many times before has someone said words to the effect of "If only they'd make a typical black tank car like the ones that appeared in endless strings of during WW2". That's certainly who I thought of when I saw that one amongst the fantasy schemes... ---PCJ

It was mentioned several times in another thread. If they have any on the shelves in Chilicothe when I am there next week to pick up a "deliver to store" on-line order, I will get at least one; more it the tanker appears to be easily converted to two-rail. One minor observation; the conspicuity stripes would not be present on "the ones that appeared in endless strings of during WW2."; they are fine for me.

The M&M boxcars look fantastic, they won't collect dust on the store shelves.

There might be more somewhere else in the store but we put the last silver M&M boxcar and the last M&M hopper car on the shelf at the Massilon, OH store in our shopping cart today.  There were two yellow boxcars remaining, we left them on the shelf, the yellow trucks just don't work for me.

Bad thing is those two train cars weren't the only things that went into the shopping cart, and we didn't buy everything we thought about getting, ouch!

Thank you Menards for the black single dome tank car, not to complain however the yellow stripe would not have been on  the tank car from that period. please make them without the stripes and multiple numbers and you will sell a bunch of them.

Yes however without the yellow modern stripes! and the Bar code and only some had the hazard plaque!  I also believe the lettering would have been white.

If you want, you can peel  off the bright  yellow strip. Underneath  it is a very faint yellow stripe.  If the numbers dont please  you, you can also carefully  take those  off too.. lots of people requested  a black tank car and here  it is, you can customize  it the way you want. It's only 19.99....

At $20/car, I probably would have bought another car with either black or silver trucks, and swapped the trucks. Or painted them.

Yep, would take about a minute to paint the trucks a rusty brown.

Two M&M cars is more than enough for us no need for swapping or painting trucks.  YMMV.

Thank you Bob, good to know. I will buy a few and play around with them.
