The Mid-Week Haiku
A chance to crank up the brain
With poems about trains.
The use of tank cars
Can indeed be dangerous
But is the best way
There have been changes
Over the many decades
that improved safety.
S'long Milwaukee Road
Hiawathas will be missed
We shall not forget
if I had money
to burn, then what would I do?
Add on a train room!

Carpet Central tough on knees
Need to negotiate new layout room
I am getting too old!
Nice to see this thread back on a regular basis, Mike.
Today is Wednesday.
Down to the club after work
To run some more trains!
Sad part of the job
is Soul-sucking meetings that
last way way too long.
Job does pay the bills.
And funds expensive hobby.
Makes it all worth while.
Nice to see this thread back on a regular basis, Mike.
Thanks Brian! One of the things I do miss about the old Forum setup was the ability to see how many "views" a given thread was receiving. After a while of posting threads on this current version, I started to wonder whether anyone was actually looking at these anymore. But that "where's the haiku " thread a couple of weeks ago was a nice reminder that at least a few people are checking in each week!

Oh Fearless Leader
Sometimes when you have a doubt
Take a leap of faith.
The Mid Week Haiku
Was sorely missed by many.
Almost took over.
Don't that beat all!
Finally a haiku?
My protest/request answered!
Mike Maurice
--------Thanks, Mike!-----
Soul-sucking meetings
Have driven Matt to despair.
Haikus help him cope!

Can't top that one, Mike.
Accurately says it all.
Laughing my tail off.
Haiku needs to be
five seven five syllables,
then you get it right.
I like poetry.
Especially by trainmen.
Always L O L.
Some guys are clever,
Arranging their words and thoughts.
Some, eh, not so much.
Summer heat is here
The A/C Freon is not
Sweating in Richmond
From the Burma Shave days:
IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHOSE
SIGNS THESE ARE YOU SURE CAN'T HAVE
DRI VEN VE RY FAR
"Burma Shave"
Rail grinding at night.
Hellish fires keep the rails shaped.
So rare to witness.

The Milwaukee Road
Twin rails of steel moving goods
Now paths to nowhere
Orange black maroon red
Colors of innovation
Now colors of dust
The trains paint it is dry
Paint brushes bleed while soaking
Satisfaction thrives
my layout is burned
i had a vision now gone
now, inspiration
It's Wednesday again!
Time to exercise the brain.
With Midweak Haiku.
The U-P-S Truck
Brought in another great e-Bay score
for my collection.
Western Pacific
U-P Heritage Caboose
For my new loco.
Four of the seven
Heritage Diesel Engines
Are in my roster.
Three more are out there
S-P and D-R-G-W,
And the U-P Flag.
Scale wheels and pilots
Were quite rare to begin with
But I'm still looking.
Been busy this week
But I will post photos soon
Of the ones I have.
Time to exercise the brain.
With Midweak Haiku.
Some of them admittedly are a little " weak." But at least we're trying!
Five years of waiting
Just got second Natty Boh
It was worth the wait
My set is complete
Time to look for more reefers
It's REEFER MADNESS!
The 3rd Rail Class M
Waiting to get it next month!
In time for the Fair!
Gilly
No time to run trains
work is demanding my time
Free time will come soon
Music will be sweet
and the trains will run on time
Patsburg comes to life
So...Micro layouts.
Half the size but twice the fun?
What would Sheldon say ?

It's called a Hudson
Milwaukee Road had it first
Bankruptcy blew that
A clue to Haiku
Remember 5 7 5
No rhyme no reason
Great stuff all!
