Midweek Photos returns with images of a rainy day. Last Friday, the National Railway Historical Society ran a bus to Ringoes, NJ to see a 50+ year old tourist line, plus the return of an old friend.
Great Western Sugar Co. no. 60 is actually a rather young steam locomotive. Built by ALCO in 1937, her career was less than 2 decades. The past decade she was under repair. This is one of her first revenue excursions of the year.
Being fully functional doesn't mean parts don't need attention. The eccentric crank was being adjusted before the run to Three Bridges and back.
Heavy rains and a difficult coupler on one of the cars made the timing of a photo runby impossible. So, the train was posed at the bridge crossing NJ-31. The crowd took all the photos they could before getting back on the bus.
