misaligned pilot steps on legacy gp-30 | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

The other day on the forum here someone mentioned the misaligned pilot steps...I had not noticed this...but they are. It looks like it could simply be corrected by drilling some new holes and remounting the steps. Any reason for not doing this?...and has anyone done this?

You can't just move the steps in because the truck side frames won't clear them in the curves. I modified mine extensively including fixed pilots and removal of the outter brake shoes on all the sideframes.
