I finally took delivery of the new VISION Baggage Car from the 2020 catalogue.  The first one was sent back as it was damaged in shipping (on another thread).  The second one showed up in good shape (thanks for a quick turn around by Charles Ro) and I put it to work on the tracks.  Pretty much as advertised EXCEPT...

There are no LEDS on a high end passenger car!  The catalogue advertised it.  The box it comes in clearly states there are LED lights with capacitor.  First thing I noticed was no switch on the bottom for turning off the lights when I was doing the ENG ID.  Next, put it on the track and checking out the dialogue and, again, no lights.  I looked in the user manual and it clearly describes lighting functions with a switch on the bottom of the car.  The CAB2 shows controls for turning light on/off.

Anybody else seen this in a delivery?  Did I get a dud?  Has anyone taken delivery of the VISION Baggage Car and notice the same issue OR does yours have lights?

Exactly which baggage car is this? I can tell you that the themed “Experience The Union Pacific” baggage car I have got definitely has lighting. I believe that was cataloged in one or the other 2020 issue, but so were a whole lot of either baggage cars, including some in various road names that were designated VL.

I can’t believe for a minute that a VL baggage car would be made without lighting. Since most baggage cars from Lionel do have lighting, it sounds to me like yours is another factory “error” but it’s a big one.

I think the car has marker lights.  I son't think lights on the inside.  The marker lights can be turned off and on with the CAB.

@LionelAG   Can you take and post a picture of the bottom of your car?

The owner's manual for this baggage car shows a switch for the lights near the run/prgrm switches.

Here's the link to the page I got this from

VISION Baggage Bottom

I have the same manual you refer to that was shipped with the product.  No clearance lights.  No interior lights.  No lights period.  Just baggage car dialogue that does work.

I just got off the phone with Lionel support (yes, I actually got through and I sent over the pictures.  They said "yes" its supposed to have lights but the engineering team is going to review my case and "determine what to do".  As I said, disappointed but NOT the absolute end of the world.  I'm in sales and when you advertise a feature and don't deliver there should at least be some conversation that happens.  Again, LED lighting is also all over the product box so this is a screw up.  I'll let you know what happens when I hear back from Lionel.

What's in that hole in the bottom of the car? micro Switch?

As a follow up...

Lionel Customer Service statement regarding the production VISION Baggage Cars:

"We apologize - ultimately this was a misprint in the catalog and on the label.  Lighting was not included due to the limited windows in the car."

I like the car still and will be keeping it BUT this is disappointing.  Anyone receiving one of these cars needs to be aware of this discrepancy.
