Hi Griff,
Sure happy you are pleased !!!
I’m slowly unboxing mine. I can’t do all at once as my layout is only 8x12 - the shortcomings of living in a condo. 🫣
Cheers 😉

I am over the moon with these GGD Eagle cars and especially the N de M sleepers! Here is a video on them running behind 3rd Rail E Units on my temporary O96 Fastrack dog bone....
@TrainBub.....You better get out that precision screw driver and install all those stirrups! There are a variety to install. The under mount types were easy the ones that mount from the front to the side of the car body are a bit of a PITA. I need to find paint to match the cars in order to dab a drop on the outward facing screw that is visible.
Just a few modifications...
I removed the lobster claws and installed Kadees the MP diaphragms touch perfectly.
I removed the original cab figures, which are really terrible and installed an Artistta crew.
I added some additional figures in a few, but not all of the cars.
I like the cloth diaphragm between the N de M sleepers but it doesn't always fold up neatly as you can see in the video I uploaded. I also found that medium shank Kadees bound on my temporary layout so I had to install a single long shank at one end to mate with a medium shank on the joining car.
I also removed the hose details because I found that they occasionally hit the center rail.
I bought one if the $30 cards of passengers and was disappointed in the crudity of the molding and painting. Price was appealing but….

Yah I haven’t addressed those Tiny add-ons yet !!! 🫢🫣😵💫😮 All in good time. I have my Tiny screwdriver set ready - and magnifier so I can see what I’m doing. 🤣
Tomorrow I’ll check my Eagle paints I got for “just in case” touch up work. The color is called …. are you ready …. “Eagle Grey”. 😉
I haven’t either. They look quite fragile and as long as I am operating on the living room floor I see no reason to put them on. If/when I move and have a home more suited to a permanent layout I will address that matter. Lots of issues here if I move I may retire etc, weighty matters! No hurry just enjoying the moment!
I emailed Scott to thank him for the N de M cars and I asked him about the possibility of future N de M offerings. He was very open to the idea. He was pleasantly surprised by the response the N de M F units and sleepers received. I really hope we can build an N de M train. Thanks for your help on that front!

Kevin,
Thanks for emailing Scott about the NDM cars. Yes, those extra cars did quite nicely (IMHO). Four different names were done. (I wonder if anyone got all four 🤔) Everyone that is interested in additional NDM cars Needs to Email Scott and let him know !!!!!
The next car should be a 10-5 which didn’t get done in this Eagle run. B&O, PRR, and NDM all ran 10-5s on the Texas Eagle. These 3 fit into my Texas Eagle “Unfinished Business” category - and this does not include Jenks cars 🤔. After this one, perhaps we push (again - emails please !!!) for a new run of heavyweights (not done in awhile !)
I believe The Aztec Eagle ran with 2 NDM heavyweight coaches up front. With the NDM interest Scott has seen, he would probably include NDM in the run. A MP 10-6 Budd with 6 wheel trucks ran on the AE - probably briefly in blue/grey, but mostly in Jenks blue (hint 😉) As Jonathan has pointed out, NDM eventually bought these 10-6s and repainted them in their colors. (Sometimes we have to build our consists one car at a time. I am doing this with the NDM Aztec Eagle and B&O National Limited.) (See my Nat Ltd thread if interested 🫣)
Cheers 😜

Here’s my MP “touch up” line up I’ve put together. I Have NOT Tried/Tested Any of them yet as I have not had any need. I Don’t Know how good the match will be. Tread Carefully !!! I got these for a “just in case” scenario. All I can say is the Names Match the MP color guide. If I remember right, I found all these at Walthers.com. I consider these items Possible reserve kit items 🤔. Possible.
Incidentally in addition to the bent antenna on the obs, my REA baggsge/RPO doesn’t light up but does have pickups so I know it’s supposed to.

I couldn't agree more! If you are enjoying the run, drop Scott a line and tell him how much you enjoy them. Maybe add what else you'd like for a future offering. Most business owner's hear about what is wrong but do not always hear about what has been done correctly or that has exceded expectations.
As far as all 4 NDM names, odds are very high that someone did get all 4.

I’d check to make sure the wiring is connected or not. 🤔🤔🤔 Sometimes wiring can wiggle loose.
For those that missed out on the E6, a reminder that 3rd Rail is offering (first time) E7 MP-ABs and T&P-As in both Eagle blue-grey AND Jenks. This will be a Last Chance to obtain MP “B” units - no T&P E7 “B”s and neither had “B”s with their E8s. In the painting change transition period, power could be seen with mixed paint jobs and both different paint jobs side by side.
E6s with both paint schemes. So cool side by side !!! 😜
Cheers 😉

When did they switch paint schemes?
@Texas Eagle 77 posted:When did they switch paint schemes?
They began the paint switch in 1962. It wasn’t finished “overnight” either. One can find quite a few pix with both paint schemes - diesels And passenger cars.

Hey Griff check the on off switch. I had one of my cars not light up and my heart sank a little. I checked underneath and flipped the switch. Sure enough they came on

Glorious!
Just a FYI.
Scott is showing a few leftover T&P coach and 5BR-lounge cars on the GGD webpage. If anyone is considering picking either of these up, I Seriously Encourage you to do so - Soon. When these are gone, they probably won’t show up in the secondary market Any Time Soon !!! Last chance !!!
Cheers 🙂
A winner project through and through!
While I know it is most likely not prototypical but I was wondering on the 8 car T&P Set. Did they put a MP Buzzsaw or a T&P Diamond on the observation car's Eagle?

Ricky,
I don’t know. I haven’t seen one.
A T&P buyer please chime in. 🤔🤔🤔

I had the same issue on 1 car. On Scott's advice I removed the end of the car by unscrewing the two screws on the underside that hold the end in place and looking inside found the lighting plug connection had popped out at the top of the car just underneath the roof. It slotted back in and all is fine. You may need to check both ends of the car as it could be the red or the black connector that's become displaced!.
These cars are just fabulous...Scott has excelled himself with this run.

Thanks for more trouble-shooting options Steve !!!
And Great to hear that you Like the Eagle !!! I appreciate your comments here in the forum !!!
Cheers 😉
FYI Scott is showing some remaining B&O Slumbercoaches on the GGD Webpage. Three named cars ran on the National Ltd and were transferred to the Eagle at St. Louis Union Station. If you didn’t get one of these cars, I recommend you pick one up. This was run 2 and I don’t think we will see another run for some time - IMHO of course.

That's an interesting question.
From your post it appears that you are aware that there was no prototype T&P lightweight observation car.
@Number 90 posted:That's an interesting question.

Yes, I am aware that there was no real T&P lightweight obs.
However, the T&P sets were offered with and without an observation.
So, did Scott put a MP one in those sets or did he sneak in a fantasy T&P observation car?
Prototypically I should not run the MP one I got since they didn't get sent to San Antonio either. But I do because it is a very unique car.
On a side note... The Zilker Eagle that ran in Zilker Park here in Austin was painted in Eagle colors by the family that owned the train and they had an observation car. I rode on that many times as s kid so that added to my want of an observation car for my train.
Here are a few pics I took of my MoPac Texas Eagle while running this weekend. We were setup at the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum for the premiere of Train Time at the Bullock's IMAX Theater.
Really kicking myself for not going with the E6s but I know I'll love the PAs when they're finally done again. That will be a big order! I love the fancy-nosed streamliners.
Really Great pix Ricky !!! 👍😜
Thanks for sharing with us. 😉
Awesome
The T&P observation has the MP buzzsaw on the back and is marked TP on the side. It's a bit of a mashup
That Eagle paint scheme was always a favorite of mine.
At Christmas, 1956, when I was 10, we took a train ride from Tulsa to Minneapolis on the Frisco to Kansas City and to Minneapolis on the Rock Island.
I was up early on the heavyweight Pullman carrying the markers on the Frisco Oklahoman, and went to look out the back door as daylight broke. The Flagman invited me into the rear vestibule around Lenexa, and I watched in awe as our single FP7 took us past the Frisco and M-K-T yards, and into Union Station. West of the station, several diesels were sitting, ready for their trains, and one of them was an MP E7 with double portholes, just like black-and-white photos I had seen. But that Eagle dress -- oh, my -- I was absolutely stunned by the actual colors, especially the blue with a hint of green. I can never forget that moment.
Ricky, that is a fine looking train you have.
Here's a video I did of my Texas Eagle's maiden run on the Austin Tinplate Trackers Layout.
Enjoy!
Really nice video Ricky !!! 👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing !!! 😉
Well… my T&P obs has a buzz saw and I think it says MP! The room is freezing I’ll get a picture later!
You may remember I was complaining that my baggage dorm was not lighting. Today I braved 16F temperature and took the car over to my friend Dr. Mike Walter’s fine O scale 2 R ply’s 3 rail rr. Being a urologist he turned it over and began examining the underside. He had removed two screws and then astutely observed that there was a switch on the underframe! Well.,, guess what?!?? These things have an on/off switch! Flicking the switch - there was light!

Glad that worked for you. The switch did not solve my problem on the PRR Eagle sleeper I got after New Years. I suspect I will have to open it up and check the plugs.

Hi Ricky.
I don't know if you saw my earlier post regarding Griff's similar issue but I had a similar problem and on Scott's advice removed the car ends and found a lighting plug had detached itself. Fingers crossed it'll be the same case for you!
Great posts of your Eagle too...much appreciated!
Best wishes,
Steve
