"Unstoppable", A fairly recent 2010 movie which centers on the old run away train theme. I watched this on YouTube last night and though I could guess the ending it keeps you on the edge of you seat. Denzel Washington plays an engineer working his last month before downsizing forces his retirement. As usual he is great. Supposedly the inspiration was a 2001 runaway CSX train which traveled 66 miles through northwest Ohio. I don't know how I missed this one. j

Probably the same reason you missed the previous 1,000 other posts about train movies. But I'll play (again):
The best "railroading" movie, bar none (which doesn't just have a single train passing by in a single scene, thereby qualifying it as a "train movie" by some--those will be posted later) is "Emperor of the North."

Well, there is the SEARCH feature on the OGR Forums. You might try that sometime.
Not to be a curmudgeon (although that's one of the best parts of getting old), but it does seems like it kinda alternates: one month, there's a post about the best railroad movie ever; the next month, about the best railroad song ever. Be nice if we could just have one easy-to-find ongoing thread for each posted somewhere permanently for people to read and comment on.

I did search, about 2am this morning, several different ways. Railroad movie Unstoppable, Movie; Unstoppable, and just plain Unstoppable. Nothing came up. Trying again five minutes ago I get hits. However, now that I know how easy it is to raise hackles around here I promise to never miss an opportunity to commit such a heinous crime again as to post on this topic. KAPISH ! j

John--you need to chill a bit. It's no big deal--even I added to your thread.
Searching "train movies" will bring up virtually every thread on the topic. I haven't looked at every link, but I assume "Unstoppable" is somewhere in every one of them. A small sampling:
Movies or TV Shows with Trains in Them
Searching simply "Unstoppable" will yield at least the following:
I Must Have Been on the Set of Unstoppable

Dude, do you know the concept of the un-caused first cause ? My initial post had nothing acerbic, controversial, mean or untrue. Nor did I assert or imply that "Unstoppable" was the best railroading movie ever. Your reply was unfriendly to say the least and flaming to be frank. I do not shrink from abrasive people I get out my sandblaster. Further more I don't need your instructions on how to search this site. I searched several times before I posted my comments and nothing came up. Several hours later the same search terms I used initially produced results. Regardless, I am rather tuned in to movies on railroading and if I missed it at the box office in 2010 perhaps others on the forum did also. As such what purpose did your comments serve. Are we to infer that we must have your approval before posting on this site for fear of your flames. That'll be the day. John Acton

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Timely title ! j
My favorite is Silver Streak with Gene Wilder and Richard Prior. Laugh out loud funny.
OK guys....I am closing this thread. Too many alerts about the bickering going on. Must be the hot weather we are having???
